The incident took place around 11 a.m., Monday, May 15, said Erin Henry, a spokesperson for the Danbury Police.

According to Henry, Danbury 911 received a call about a boating accident in the area of Driftwood Point on Candlewood Lake.

Initial reports indicated one of the boats was taking on water, with another attempting to return to Lattins Cove State Boat Launch, Henry said.

Danbury’s Public Safety boat, 34 Marine 1 responded along with shore-based units who established a command post at Lattins Cove.

Henry said 34 Marine 1 made contact with one boat and determined they were not taking on water and escorted it to Lattins Cove.

Upon reaching Lattins Cove, both passengers were evaluated by EMS. One person was transported to the hospital.

Rescue units were unable to locate the second vessel involved which reportedly left the area under its own power, Henry said.

The scene has been turned over to Connecticut ENCON Police for investigation.
